Grand Canyon & Northern Wonders

Explore New Heights

Northern Arizona is your destination to see many of the state’s most iconic natural wonders. The majestic Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, the swirling sandstone slot canyons of Antelope Canyon and the vivid turquoise waters of Havasu Falls you’ve seen on Instagram posts are all here.

Its alpine forest and tundra altitude provides Northern Arizona a welcome alternative to the Sonoran Desert's sometimes blistering heat, with temperatures in the mountain town of Flagstaff often 20°–30° lower than downstate destinations like Phoenix and Tucson. The world's first international dark sky city is a stellar choice for stargazing with either amateur equipment or at Lowell Observatory, which offers evening views through telescopes at the same facility that first detected Pluto.

During daylight hours, Mount Humphreys, Arizona’s tallest peak, and other slopes in the San Francisco Peaks offer outdoors enthusiasts year-round recreational opportunities, including fantastic hiking, camping and snow skiing. Backcountry trails throughout the Coconino National Forest attract mountain bikers, hikers and off-roaders in all-terrain and off-road vehicles.

Regardless of your preferred elevation — anywhere between 12,637 feet at the summit of Humphreys Peak and 2,450 feet at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon —  Northern Arizona beckons the adventurous to explore new heights.
