Pinetop-Lakeside by Chris Paxman
Arizona’s only covered bridge you can drive through is in the town of Pinedale, in Navajo country.
Over its history, Pinedale has been known as Mortenson, named for its Mormon settler, and Percheron, for the breed of stallions he brought along, before finally being dubbed Pinedale in 1888.
The road that leads into town crosses Pinedale Wash. The 75-foot-long covered wooden bridge is not old – it was built in 1976 – but it makes for a great backdrop for photos.
