Cottonwood

Tour beautiful Cottonwood to take in the town's colorful past, abundant wildlife, and gorgeous scenery.

Do you enjoy bird watching? Bring your life list and look for more than 100 varieties of winged species at Cottonwood's Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Hiking there and in nearby Prescott National Forest and Riverfront Park rewards not only with wildlife sightings but with scenic beauty as well.

In town, travel by foot on a self-guided tour through Old Town. Take a jeep tour to venture out into the natural beauty of the area. Or, for an entirely different perspective, try skydiving or a peaceful hot air balloon ride. The sights are amazing from every angle.

The idyllic setting is also perfect for going on a wine tour. The Verde Valley Wine Trail has a collection of welcoming wineries between Cottonwood and Jerome. Make a day of it. Or, if your timing is right, have a blast at one of Cottonwood's many annual festivals—for you birders, that includes the Verde Valley Birding & Nature Festival.
