Annual Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race - Test your skills on some of the sweetest technical singletrack in the state, while supporting a great cause. Every penny earned by this charity event goes directly into trail building and wildfire protection in the Pine Strawberry fuel break. Includes kid's race, beer garden, auction, live music, ride on ranch land opened just for this event, and kid's camp.
Fire on the Rim is a challenging mountain bike race that takes place in the Tonto National Forest and the picturesque town of Pine, Arizona, to raise funds for wildfire prevention, trail advocacy, and new trail development.
This three-day event is a family-friendly festival with camping, music, food and drink. A community dinner kicks of the event on Friday evening, with live music and a beer garden sponsored by Title Sponsor THAT Brewery. Food trucks, vendors, raffles and the beer garden are all available at the venue.
Bright and early Saturday morning the bike race begins, with starting times for the 15 mile, the 30 mile, and the 45-mile racers. While the racers are out a variety of activities are available for family and friends in the charming mountain towns of Pine, Strawberry and Payson including antique shops, museums and hiking trails.
Kid’s Kamp is a unique addition to the event. Childcare specialists provide hours of activities for children so their parents are free to race and/or to enjoy exploring our beautiful area.
As it grows, Fire on the Mountain Bike Race brings more visitors to the Rim Country each year, impacting our local economy and enhancing our image as a hiking and biking mecca.
FIRE DANGER IN THE RIM COUNTRY
The Rim Country, which includes the area underneath the Rim from Pine-Strawberry through Payson to Christopher Creek, is situated within the largest stand of beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees in the world. It is clear that within the beauty of this forest lies the possibility of a major disaster, in the form of uncontrollable forest fires. Pine has the distinction of being rated as one of the top ten areas in the country for the potential of catastrophic wildfire, due to specific geological effects in Pine Creek Canyon.
