BALLET TUCSON ANNOUNCES SPRING CONCERT DANCE & DESSERT 2018

CARMEN & NEW BALLET “SADDLE UP” WITH LIVE MUSIC BY THE BILL GANZ WESTERN BAND TO HIGHLIGHT THE END-OF-SEASON PERFORMANCES

Ballet Tucson presents its end-of-season concert Dance& Dessert on March 16-18 at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, Tucson, Arizona. This popular concert features variety-filled programming topped off with a grand finale of gourmet dessert tastings donated by Tucson’s finest eateries.

On this program, the company dances Ballet Master, Daniel Precup’s intense and passionate rendition of Carmen. Always an audience favorite, Carmen features principal dancers Jenna Johnson and Isaiah Sumler. The entire ensemble of 35 professional dancers will display spirit and panache against the remarkable music of Georges Bizet. Mr. Precup continues to display immense talent and imagination in his ever-growing choreographic endeavors.

Long-time Ballet Tucson associate Mark Schneider will premiere his original western-themed ballet Saddle Up!. Mr. Schneider’s flair for creating dynamic and entertaining works will be in full force as the company dances to live music performed onstage by the Bill Ganz Western Band. Musical highlights to include: Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds, Cattle Call, Ghost Riders, Arizona Waltz and Don’t Fence Me In as well as other classic cowboy songs. Mr. Schneider has created dozens of successful ballets for Ballet Tucson over its history including classical and theatrical works.

Rounding out the program will be eclectic offerings by Founding Artistic Director, Mary Beth Cabana, Assistant Artistic Director, Chieko Imada and Guest Choreographer, Sam Watson.
