Kid Friendly Arizona
From Wild West towns and goat farms to Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon, Arizona has a lot to offer families.
Saddle-up for a trip to the historic, high-desert town of Wickenburg, where the cowpokes roam and the Western lifestyle still thrives.
Located 50 minutes northwest of Phoenix on the Hassayampa River, Wickenburg prides itself as being the most western town in Arizona. It just might be true, as visitors are more than welcome to clink their spurs at dude ranches and bask in the town’s Old West history.
Be a cowboy for a few days at one of several guest ranches. Sample cowboy life with horseback riding, roping, and rounding; then wind down in the evening hours with such modern amenities as spa treatments or a round of golf.
Wickenburg’s historic downtown district honors its past while still keeping up with the times. Stroll past historic buildings – popping into art galleries and western decor shops – while your electric car is hitched to a Tesla Supercharger station.
The Desert Caballeros Western Museum houses an impressive collection of art – don’t miss the bola ties, Arizona’s official neckwear. Venture further out to take a guided tour of Vulture Mine, an abandoned gold mine credited with bringing Wickenburg its first settlers.
