Earth Harmony Festival – A Sustaining Experience
Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage presents the second annual Earth Harmony Festival, Saturday & Sunday, October 5-6th in Tumacácori, Arizona, South of Tucson.
The Earth Harmony Festival features a highly-popular EcoVillage tour, which gives festival goers the opportunity to explore all things sustainable at one of the country’s largest EcoVillages. In addition there will be live music, speakers, a fun and educational children’s village, and a vendor village.
Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage is a 165-acre working organic farm and ranch nestled within the picturesque Santa Cruz River valley. The EcoVillage carries on the tradition of Father Kino who used these lands to start the Tumacácori Mission in 1691, which included large grazing fields and gardens to provide for its indigenous community and neighbors. The festival includes camping amongst giant cottonwood trees; call ahead for the whole family!
Festival-goers will enjoy nationally-known educational speakers on a variety of sustainability topics including sustainable organic farming, preserving and fostering heritage foods, the importance of food diversity and the “slow food” movement.
The Eco Tours include permaculture principles, green building techniques, water harvesting, composting, recycling, alternative clean energy, and Arizona’s first and largest food forest system.
Global Change MusicSM Nonprofit Record Label will provide live music featuring TaliasVan & The 11-piece Bright & Morning Star Band performing CosmoPop® - spiritual vocal music that addresses the sufferings of our times and gives hope for a better world to come™, VansGuard (on tour with their new album, False Empire), Starseed Acoustic Ensemble, and The Change Agents Band. Global Change Music artists’ individual, unique lyrics speak of taking action against injustice.
Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage founders, Gabriel of Urantia and Niánn Emerson Chase, created the vision of the Earth Harmony Festival to encourage a restoration of balance to the world’s people and ecosystems through environmental awareness, education, and a commitment to peace and unity without uniformity. One of the festival coordinators, Amadon DellErba says, “We are definitely putting our love, sweat, and tears into this festival each year and all it represents, because we know the message of the festival is vital for the health of the planet and our grandchildren. Like our gardens, we see it growing and blossoming each year, and so that’s encouraging that more and more people are waking up to the necessity for all citizens of the world, and especially the Western world, to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.”
The Earth Harmony Festival thrives on partnership! Donors and sponsors make the festival possible and help support Avalon Gardens Internships and the Personality Integration Rehabilitation Program — nonprofit programs which assist individuals from diverse backgrounds in various levels of healing, training, and education to actualize their dreams and talents. Entrance to the festival is free. Donations for activities and Eco Tours are encouraged to help foster the EcoVillage’s many prototype projects for creating a more sustainable, environmentally-conscious, and friendly world.
Camping is available by donation. For more information, to become a sponsor, and for camping reservations visit http://earthharmonyfestival.org or call 520-398-2542.
