Tchaikovsky’s deeply personal Symphony No. 4, based on a Russian folk tune, overflows with melodies and a thrilling brass finale. Prokofiev’s lyrical Violin Concerto No. 2, shedding his early sardonic style, is performed by Francesca Dego. Conductor Xian Zhang returns to conduct this final classics weekend, including Michael Abels’ Emerge.
