Artists of the Superstitions Studio Tour
through November 3, 2013
The Superstition Mountains have inspired people for millennia. To share this experience all one has to do is look at them, walk the many trails crisscrossing these mountains, or live in their presence to be awed by their beauty and ruggedness. Some of the local creative artists have externalized their sense of awe and advanced it to design and produce beautiful pieces of art.
In the winter of 2006-2007 three of these artists pooled their inspirations to find other artisans in the Gold Canyon – Apache Junction area who share their mystical bond with these mountains. By March 2007 they found seven other artists who shared their passion. This group of ten set into motion the beginnings of the first Artist’s of the Superstitions Studio Tour in November 2007. Since this humble beginning the Artist’s of the Superstitions Studio Tour has become a major focal point for art appreciation. Thirty-one studios with 69 juried artists, representing 15 artistic disciplines participated in the 2012 Studio Tour. Expect this year to be even better.
This free, self guided, two day Studio Tour allows you to visit the many artist’s studios, which are in close proximity to each other. Our artists offer their creativity in Clay, Glass, Gourds, Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Pottery, Sculpture, Wood, and more. Just relax and spend two days in the Gold Canyon & Apache Junction area, driving roads less traveled, visiting studios, meeting with the artists watching them demonstrate their creativity, and get closer to the Superstition Mountains.
While visiting each studio, take some time to really see the art works these artists create, and you might find that special piece that speaks to you. Take it home and share it with your friends who have never seen the Superstition Mountains. Or make it a gift to someone special.
More detailed information may be found at the Artist’s of the Superstitions website, and you may email your questions regarding this event. Website: www.artistsofthesuperstitions.com email: email@example.com
Maps will be available for you to print out from the website and/or maps may be picked up at commercial locations throughout Gold Canyon and Apache Junction or at any studio the days of the show. The map has the addresses of each studio on tour, the names of the artists, and their type of artistic medium at each studio.
So, sit down with a copy of the tour map, a friend or two, and plan your route to visit all the studios and artists who interest you. Carpool with a group of friends and make this a more memorable outing. The Studio Tour will be Saturday November 2nd and Sunday November 3rd, 2013. The hours for both days are from 9 AM to 4 PM. Thusly, we encourage you to participate in an expedition searching for artistic excellence.
