Once a 1930s gas station, Mr. D’z now enjoys a second life as a retro diner complete with checkerboard floors, neon signage and a jukebox. As for the food, it’s classic diner fare, and it’s delicious: cheeseburgers, patty melts, shakes and root beer floats.

Red Raven is an intimate bistro with elevated dishes — a happy respite from conventional road-trip eats. The clams and mussels pasta are braised in a delicate white wine while the duck gets a hint of sweetness from cranberry sauce. After dinner, retreat to one of Williams’ cozy Route 66 hotels for a deep slumber.

Studio 66 Café, Holbrook

An inviting café with small-town pride, Studio 66 is run by Holbrook’s 2024 Woman of the Year, Katrina Jaime. It’s the kind of place where the food is as welcoming as the people. Tuck into breakfast and lunch favorites, like sticky cinnamon rolls, hot-off-the-press paninis and crispy fries loaded with fun toppings.
