Sounds of Thunder Mountain Pow Wow

Experience the vibrant traditions of the Southern Paiute community at the annual Sounds of Thunder Mountain Pow Wow, taking place August 15–16, 2026, on the Kaibab Paiute Reservation near Fredonia.

Hosted by the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians, this welcoming community celebration brings together traditional dancing, drumming, colorful regalia, arts, food and activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy performances featuring Host Drum Bad Eagle, a Southern Paiute hand-drum contest, art shows, food and art vendors, a fun run/walk, fishing derby and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The Pow Wow offers an opportunity to experience and celebrate the heritage, songs, traditions and community spirit of the Southern Paiute people while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Kaibab Plateau.
