Meteor City Dino Drive Thru

Meteor City is a historic and quirky Route 66 roadside stop just west of Winslow, Arizona, near Interstate 40 Exit 239. It began in 1938 as a Texaco gas station and trading post and became famous for its distinctive geodesic dome and colorful roadside character. The site was long abandoned but reopened in 2025 after restoration. Today it’s a family-friendly attraction offering fun activities like a Dino Drive-Thru with life-sized dinosaurs, gemstone mining, BB target shooting, animatronic dinosaur rides, novelty games, a western-themed town area, and a gift shop inside the unique dome structure. The stop blends Route 66 nostalgia with playful, interactive experiences, making it both a historic landmark and an entertaining detour for travelers.
