City of Douglas Visitor Center

For over a century, Douglas has been a crossroads — where the United States meets Mexico, where the Chihuahuan Desert meets the Sky Islands, and where the footprints of Geronimo, Pancho Villa, and Amelia Earhart still echo through one of Arizona's most remarkable hometowns. Sitting at 4,000 feet along Historic Highway 80, our city enjoys a mild, four-season climate and a downtown historic district anchored by the legendary Gadsden Hotel — open since 1907, with its 42-foot Tiffany stained-glass windows, 24-karat gold column capitals, and the deeply moving Wall of Faces Veterans Museum housed within its walls.

Douglas is home to attractions unlike anywhere else in the Southwest.Art Car World, founded by filmmaker and art car visionary Harrod Blank, fills an entire downtown city block with fantastical vehicular sculptures such as rockets, land yachts, mosaic-covered masterpieces. Each one, as Blank says, "a life lived." The Last Supper Museum holds the world's largest collection of Last Supper-inspired art: over 2,000 pieces from 50+ countries, named Phoenix Magazine's Best Museum Road Trip winner. For contemporary work, Studio 917 and the Border Arts Corridor present rotating exhibitions of local and international artists shaped by two cultures and one shared sky. The San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge just east of town draws birders from around the world with over 335 recorded species.

The City of Douglas Visitor Center is your gateway to all of it. Our friendly staff will help you explore a city where two nations share one story including a stroll or drive across to sister city Agua Prieta. Sip free Explore Douglas coffee sourced from Mexico, try complimentary yerba mate or matcha, browse our library of local maps and guides, and let your dog rest at our water bowl while you plan your adventure. Family-friendly, dog-friendly, and staffed by people who genuinely love where they live. Douglas, Arizona is Cochise County's best-kept secret, and we'd love to help you explore it.
