Camp Verde Artists Group to Exhibit at Verde Valley Archaeology Center and Museum
The Camp Verde Artists Group is happy to announce an exciting new collaboration with the Verde Valley Archaeology Center and Museum located in Camp Verde. Artworks from seven members of the Camp Verde Artists Group, along with a museum volunteer who is an artist, will be on display at the museum in the museum's Kemper Meeting Room. Dates of the exhibition are November 1, 2025, through January 31, 2026. There will be an opening reception for the Camp Verde Artist Group's exhibit at the museum on Saturday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public and museum admission will also be free on this day.
Featured member artists will include Chianne Hope, Jeni O’Callaghan, Jill Irvin, Mary Rush (founder of the artists group), Sylvia Strobel, Susan Shatreau-Janisky, Thomas D. Fleming, and museum volunteer, Leslie Koshland. Works included in the show are paintings, bags, and jewelry. The artwork varies in style and media offered by the artists.
Rush stated, “The affiliation with the Verde Valley Archaeology Center and Museum is among our most exciting news yet. The museum is a beautiful local cultural center that sets high standards, from its historical displays to the knowledgeable staff. Taking a tour of the museum is a treat. Now museum visitors can view local art as they learn about local archaeology.”
Rush had met the director of the museum, Monica Buckle, at the Arizona Commission on the Art Listening Session in Camp Verde on July 24, 2025. The focus of the event was to have conversations with local art enthusiasts about what art meant to the local community.
After attending the meeting in the museum’s event space, Rush knew it would be a perfect place to showcase the art of the Camp Verde Artists Group members, a group she founded in December 2023. Buckle was enthusiastic because it was a dream of hers to uplift the space. The two worked together to shape a unique gallery setting to exhibit local art.
Visitors may purchase works by the eight artists directly from the artists during the museum’s open hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Please call the museum at (928) 567-0006 to confirm the hours. The gallery is closed to visitors during museum events. They are having an opening reception on Saturday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Verde Valley Archaeology Center’s address is 460 W. Finnie Flat Road, Camp Verde.
