The road to Bartlett Reservoir is paved with state records, like the carp state record of 37 pounds, 5 ounces. Located 20 miles east of Carefree on the Verde River, the reservoir is a playground of outdoor recreation. Launch your craft from several boat ramps or from the Bartlett Marina. Whether you’re fishing, waterskiing, picnicking, or all of the above, the close proximity to the Phoenix area means a day on the water isn’t too far off.
Bartlett Reservoir has been an angler’s delight since Bartlett Dam was constructed in 1939 and produces large and smallmouth bass, catfish, carp, bluegill, and green sunfish.
The west side of the reservoir is a year-round getaway with camping and picnic sites at your disposal whenever the moment strikes.
Bring your camping supplies and plan to stay along the west side of the reservoir. Alternatively, Lake Bartlett is about 50 miles north of Phoenix and is a great choice if you want to get out of the city. Or, plan to stay a little closer to the lake in the nearby town of Carefree.
