We know: Summer in Arizona can get a bit, well, overheated.

But we’ve got tips to help you save cold cash on your upcoming vacation no matter where you want to go, whom you want to travel with or what you want to do.

Inside Track

Social media is a powerful avenue for travel savings. Hotels regularly use these channels to push out private, last-minute deals, especially to celebrate anniversaries, introduce a new property, showcase a renovation or boost travel during slower periods.

On Facebook, “Like” your favorite resorts, spas and restaurants, then watch your feed for savings. On Twitter, simply using a #TravelDeals will bring up a plethora of hotel and rental car deals.

Want to “glamp” at one of the Seven Wonders of the World? To kick off its inaugural season, which opens on June 30, 2016, Grand Canyon Under Canvas in Williams is offering a 15% discount for luxury camping at the base of Bill Williams Mountain. Visit undercanvas.com/grand-canyon

As part of its 80th anniversary, Paradise Valley’s Hermosa Inn is offering an $80 credit to LON’s (its on-site restaurant) and tickets to the Phoenix Art Museum, along with a signature cocktail and enhanced turndown service. Available through August 31, 2016; hermosainn.com.

Destination Marketing Organizations

All major destinations in Arizona, including Flagstaff, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sedona and Tucson, have robust visitor websites with current specials on lodging, dining and sightseeing. Sign up for email newsletters, which deliver discounts and specials right to your inbox.

Daily Deals

Websites that specialize in daily or limited-time sales, like Groupon and Living Social, offer a bonanza of savings for bargain hunters. And if you are willing to gamble a bit, bidding sites like Priceline can yield real savings over published rates for hotels that remain a secret until you snag the deal.

And while you’re crowdsourcing reviews from fellow travelers on TripAdvisor, click on the PriceFinder link for current deals. On Foursquare, use the Deals filter to bring up insider savings. These flash sales are great for procrastinators because they can spur a last-minute vacation.

Membership Savings

You might already be part of a group that offers significant savings to its members (think “friends and family”), and all you have to do is ask. AAA, AARP, Costco and Sam’s Club are just a few organizations that regularly extend travel discounts to their members.

Active military, seniors, employees of certain companies or nonprofit organizations and teachers are just some of the folks who can save while on holiday.

And if you are a frequent flyer or renter, check with your airlines and car rental companies for tie-ins with preferred resorts. And the same credit cards you use to reserve your vacation stay can unlock savings with special discount codes for hotel partners.

Traveling with Pets

Dog-loving travelers can bring Fido to a growing number of hotels and venues this summer.

PetSmart and the Arizona Diamondbacks have teamed up to create the first-ever, season-long dog-friendly ballpark in America. Arizona residents can bring their pooches to all 13 Sunday games in 2016 at Chase Field; pets and their parents will enjoy dedicated seating, a grassy play area and special treats. To learn more about the Dog Days of Summer, call (602) 462-4600 or click the tickets link at arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com.
