Oct 3rd

  • Time2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Cultural Coalition, Inc. is excited to announce the 3rd annual return of the Portal to the Past
Festival as a FREE in-person event at Pueblo Grande Museum on Sunday, October 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. A celebration of indigenous music, storytelling, and dance, this event highlights the engineering feats of the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People (archaeologically known as the Hohokam); an intricate canal system that is still used in Phoenix.

An outdoor family-friendly event, people of all ages will enjoy a variety of cultural performances from various tribal communities that will include dances, songs, and storytelling. Children's craft activities, tours of the archaeological site, and demonstrations by indigenous artisans will also be available during the festival. Families can spend an afternoon exploring the history of water in Arizona, and learn about the importance of conservation as a resource in our community.
