Come see beautifully hand woven, one of a kind Navajo rugs and more at the Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary 13th Annual Navajo Rug and American Indian Art Auction on Saturday, November 3. Preview the rugs and art available for bidding beginning at 9 a.m., and have your favorites already chosen for the auction beginning at noon. This annual auction is not only a great way to pick up some authentic works of American Indian art, but it is also a fundraiser! A portion of the proceeds benefit the Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary, which helps support the museums’ preservation efforts, education programs, special events, exhibits, and artifact collections care.
The auction is a wonderful opportunity to see numerous styles of Navajo rugs and a variety of types of American Indian art from all over the Southwest. Trader Bruce Burnham will also share his knowledge with attendees about collecting Navajo rugs and American Indian art during an informal chat before the auction. Burnham is a dedicated and knowledgeable resource for learning how to appreciate and collect American Indian art, whose family has been trading with the native peoples of the Four Corners area for five generations.
Enjoy fry bread and other breakfast foods available for sale throughout the day. The auction is free and open to the public. The Museum will be open 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. with standard admission rates for visitors, and free for Museum Members.
