ÏViva Tucson! Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Oct 1st – Oct 15th
Visit Tucson and Pima County invite you to celebrate Tucson’s amazing history, culture, and heritage. ¡Viva Tucson! For a second year, Hispanic Heritage Month will unveil an array of cultural events each week from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Our home is your home! ¡Mi Casa es tu Casa! Local community partners will host concerts, art exhibitions, markets, and an internationally recognized food scene to explore daily. This month-long celebration pays homage to Tucson’s rich Hispanic heritage, showcasing the essence of this welcoming city and the people who make it an outstanding place to live, work and play. Pima County will kick off the festivities with a proclamation and lighting of the Historic Courthouse Dome in red and green for Hispanic Heritage Week from Friday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 17. “Even though Tucson has always been a welcoming and embracing community, we are excited to honor and celebrate the Hispanic heritage that is an important part of who we are.” Visit Tucson CEO Felipe Garcia said. “These celebrations are not only for those of Hispanic heritage but for everyone that has the luck of calling Tucson home.” Without a doubt, Tucson has been a leader in embracing its diversity. Festivities begin with a Mexican Fiesta on Sept. 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center, followed by a concert hosted by the Consulate of Mexico in Tucson at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be conducted by Venezuelan Director Jose Luis Gamez, with music performed by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School. This event is Free and open to the public. Indulge in the Hispanic flavors of the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy at local restaurants or at a cooking demo with local celebrity chef Maria Mazon at the Historic Pima County Courtyard on Friday, Sept. 22, at 1:00 p.m. The third season of Pima County’s Music in the Courtyard will also kick off on Sept. 15, with music celebrating the region’s Hispanic heritage every Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These performances are free to the public and will continue with different musicians performing each Friday through May 2024.
