Elgin

Take in lovely scenery and taste award-winning wines in the pretty town of Elgin in southern Arizona’s wine country.

Right Now

Remember the scene from I Love Lucy when Lucy and Ethel stomped grapes with their bare feet? In Elgin, you can too!

Roll up your pant legs and get in on the fun at the annual Blessing of the Sonoita Vineyards festival each March in Elgin, part of the Southern Arizona Wine Trail. If grape stomping isn’t for you, enjoy horse-drawn vineyard tours and other less messy activities, including – of course – wine tasting. Wine-related festivals continue in autumn, too, with the St. Martin’s Day Festival and the Fall Festival.

Spectacular panoramic views of western grasslands surrounded by beautiful mountains make Elgin an idyllic place for a wine-tasting getaway. With nine wineries in the region producing 50,000 gallons of wine yearly, you’ll have ample choices – so many, it might be hard to narrow it down to your favorite.

Movie buffs might recognize some of the gorgeous scenery from a number of movies. The train station sequence in the 1955 film Oklahoma! and the railroad scenes in the 1957 western 3:10 to Yuma were filmed in Elgin. Pack your cowboy boots and get ready for your own Elgin close-up.
