Carstens Fine Art Studio & Gallery

Carstens Fine Art is the studio & gallery of professional artist Cyndy Carstens. Oil Paintings varying in size from tiny 5x5" to large 48x72" originals specifically oriented to the rising & setting of the sun in the wide-open expanses of the Southwest. The basis for the work is to capture the color of light and draw attention to the intricate details of our desert landscape. "Each painting begins with a focus on the color of light emphasizing a mood of serenity, excitement or simply awe. From there the work itself will dictate what follows, whether it means adding our mountain-scapes, cacti, shapes, divisions, or massive trees. My signature style is a combination of impressionist strokes, traditional blending, and palette knife gestures. That means I don't quite fit into any one category. If I had to describe my pieces in 5 words or less, I would call them 'Skyscapes in Contemporary Realism'." The paintings are not exclusively reserved for the desert. Arizona's landscape is incredibly diverse to include high rugged mountains, stretches of rolling range, ecclesiastical rock formations and beautiful water ways and lakes. "I am inspired by it all," states Carstens. Carstens Fine Art is open everyday from 10 am to 5:30 pm with extended hours for the Scottsdale Artwalks which are every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Carstens is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. Summer hours may vary. Check cyndycarstens.com for current schedule or call the studio at 480-946-3217.
