Piece by Piece -An Exhibition of Mosaics

October 1 through October 20, 2013
Tohono Chul Park
Tucson

Mosaic art has been an important element of nearly every culture on the planet and within each community there are striking examples of mosaic artworks. Whether we know it or not, the mosaics we come into contact with tell rich tales of societal values. They also invite us to consider the involved and meticulous task of designing, planning and implementing such vibrant images. While mosaic is a highly venerated and established form of art, there is a current movement to elevate it into the contemporary art world through innovative design and non- traditional materials. This exhibition explores these traditional and contemporary investigations in the realm of mosaic arts by Tucson artists. Reception with Dia de los Muertos, Friday, September 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
