7th Annual “2013 Veterans Day Celebration Event”
VA Medical Center (Sports Park)
The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will be hosting and joining the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA); VA Regional Office; VA Vet Center; National, State, and local Veterans service organizations for the 7th Annual “2013 Veterans Day Celebration Event.” The event will be Saturday – November 9, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the VA Medical Center (Sports Park) at 3601 South Sixth Avenue, Tucson, Arizona.
This event will allow the VA to join together with the Tucson community to provide information and resources to all Veterans, service members, and their families. This event welcomes not only Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) combat Veterans, Active duty military, Reserve, and National Guard personnel and their families, but all Veterans in Arizona and those visiting Arizona.
Also, this event will host a wide range of family activities and live entertainment throughout the day. Lunch will be provided for all registered attendees. Visitors are encouraged to enter at the Sixth Avenue Gate.
Representatives will be available from SAVAHCS with information from Eligibility and Enrollment, Post Deployment Care, Primary Care, Women’s Health program, Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Homeless program, Polytrauma program, Southwestern Blind Rehabilitation Center, Spinal Cord Injury Clinic, and OEF/OIF/OND Transition Program.
There will be children’s play area and activities, including a balloon artist, pony rides, crafts, and games. A local radio station is presently being planned. There will be a musical concert performed by local music groups throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets with them to the VA Medical Center. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited at this event.
